As various situations unfold in and around American cities where our federal government is trying to assume control of state militias (a.k.a. National Guard units) and deploy them to reinforce the mission of ICE [the federal law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, formally known as ‘U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’] I am drawn back to high school history classes when we learned about the Brownshirts in 1930’s Germany.

The Brownshirts didn’t target Hispanics or people with darker skin colors. The efforts of the Brownshirts were generally focused on people of the Jewish faith.

It seems to become clearer every day that ICE has been put on steroids — a full-scale campaign to provide unlimited resources to create a domestic army capable of shutting down any and all opposition to President Trump’s Agenda. And funded by that One Big Beautiful Bill by diverting funds from Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP and other critical supports for vulnerable Americans so that a new domestic army will rapidly emerge — led by Kristi Noem and Tom Homan — fully equipped to wreak havoc on mainstream America.

Donald Trump signed an executive order in early October 2025 to allow an environmental disaster to move forward — a 211-mile “Haul Road” across more than 200 miles of Alaska wilderness.

Ambler Road: A Disastrous Proposed Industrial Corridor | Alaska Wilderness LeagueTrump’s order reversed a decision finalized last year blocking the proposed 211-mile-long industrial access road sought by mining companies to facilitate operations in remote wilderness in Alaska.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said construction would begin in the spring of 2026, and the Department of Defense would contribute funding to a company seeking to mine in the area.

The controversial proposal has long been sought by mining groups, but has been in legal purgatory for years. The proposed route crosses one of the country’s most well-preserved national parks, Gates of the Arctic National Park. Eighty-nine Tribes and First Nations have passed resolutions against the project, and local communities along the proposed route have overwhelmingly opposed its construction.

Now, the real truth emerges. One of Trump’s mega-Billionaire pals seems to be getting even richer through this very bad behavior:

Remember the story of the scorpion who needed to cross a deep river, but he didn’t know how to swim?  He asked a frog to carry him across the river.

“Do I look like a fool?” said the frog. “You’d sting me if I let you on my back!”

“Be logical,” said the scorpion. “If I stung you, I’d certainly drown myself.”

“That seems true,” the frog acknowledged. “Climb aboard, then!” All went well until they reached the middle of the river and the scorpion abruptly stung the frog. Almost immediately, they both began to thrash and drown.

“Why on earth did you do that?” the frog said angrily. “Now we’re both going to die.”

“I can’t help it,” said the scorpion. “It’s my nature.”

It’s my nature.

Mike Johnson’s ascent to power in the House of Representatives was a result of the historic ouster of Kevin McCarthy, which triggered a three-week period of infighting within the Republican caucus to find a replacement. Johnson emerged as the consensus candidate because he was relatively unknown, avoiding the deep scrutiny that had doomed other potential speakers. He was unanimously elected Speaker of the House by his Republican colleagues on October 25, 2023, ending a period of political chaos and uncertainty.

“Magic” Mike Johnson’s unexpected rise to political power was no accident of history.

Since Johnson’s first election to Congress in 2017 from Louisiana’s 4th congressional district, Johnson and his team engaged in a quiet but deliberate series of moves aimed at positioning himself for greater power.

He aligned himself ideologically with the most conservative faction of the House GOP — while stopping just short of public theatrical extremes.

That restraint gave him the reputation among his conservative, Freedom Caucus and MAGA colleagues – without the public baggage – to position himself as the ‘best’ choice for his fellow Republicans to be elected Speaker.

Now, two years into his reign as Speaker of the House, Magic Mike Johnson has perfected a persona through which he combines the very best qualities of (i) a rural evangelical preacher; with (ii) a sincere and committed elementary science teacher; and (iii) the Sheriff of Mayberry.

It’s his special gift. Those black-rimmed eyeglasses. The impish smile. The calm, cool and sincere delivery from the podium. There isn’t a fairy tale invented yet that Magic Mike can’t spin into the gospel truth, convincing some of the people all of the time that he – and only he – is the singularly reliable source of truth in our nation’s capital.

He only wants to reopen the government now, then negotiate health care issues later. No poison pills. No tricks. No stingers.

After all, honesty and integrity are deeply ingrained in his nature.

Desantis-Evil-2

DeSantis has proved to be an intrepid conservative in Florida. Under his leadership, Florida is bigger and more prosperous now than it was when he took office. There are more jobs; more people; more businesses; more morality; and less abortion; less grooming; and less tolerance for woke and CRT. His leadership during the pandemic allowed […]
